Technical Architect (332dm) – Birmingham - £575 - £650 Per Day
Our client is looking for a Technical Architect.
The role will optimise the operations (processes and supporting technology) into an integrated environment that supports the delivery of the business strategy and is responsive to change.
DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.
The post holder will be responsible for taking business requirements through to an assured solution design. The post holder will possess a broad architecture background combined with areas of knowledge on technologies and practices, a good understanding of architecture domains and stakeholder engagement skills.
Key Tasks
The post holder will be required to do the following:
• Take end-to-end ownership of shaping solutions & defining the right architectural approach
• Participate in technical design authority events to help define enterprise architectures
• Own the architecture and technical delivery of a number of projects in parallel through the full project lifecycle.
• Champion best practices, technical ways of working, and engineering standards
• Investigate specific architectural challenges, producing and syndicating solution approaches that deliver incremental value at pace whilst supporting both sustainable development and long-term enterprise strategies
• Work closely with the engineering teams, providing input on decision making and influencing to ensure outcomes are delivered in line with architectural standards
• Continually build own expertise in relevant technologies, architectures and methodologies
• Develop project technical scopes and objectives, involve all relevant stakeholders and ensure technical feasibility
• Design solution architecture in alignment with enterprise standards
• Implement proof of concepts for supporting the design solutions
• Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
• Assess risks and issues in the solution design; develop concepts for remediation
• Liaise with project stakeholders, gaining go forward decisions and signoffs
• Allocate, utilize and direct personnel resources to drive projects to completion
• Create technical feasible solution architectures to meet functional and non-functional business requirements
• Ensure integration between the various systems is clearly documented to sufficient detail supporting distributed agile delivery
• Ensure alignment of strategic needs with technology delivery
• Establish effective architectural governance and controls
• Reduce project delivery risks.
• Promote clarity, consistency and re-use in technology delivery
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
This role would suit someone who is experienced as a solution architect or who has a broad background of technical implementations and leading technical innovation and solution design. Thus, the role holder will have the below experience:
• Experience of working on large scale Business Change and IT enabled Transformation Programmes
• SC (Strap) security clearance to operate in CT Policing environment and with partners
• Experience in National/International Network Deployments
• Experience in Stakeholder(s) interaction/meetings at all levels
• Designing and architecting large or complex software systems using industry standard tools and existing enterprise frameworks
• Demonstrable knowledge of enterprise security and compliance frameworks and user authentication/authorisation strategies. OWASP Top 10 is expected.
• A deep understanding of the trade-offs of foundational architectural patterns
• Ability to extract non-functional requirements from overall business objectives
Experience – Desirable
• Understanding and knowledge of CT Policing including MPS, National (UK Force wide) and international responsibilities; including a clear understanding of CT Policing relationships to Government, security and intelligence agencies and legislative process including their governance arrangements
• Experience of working in Central Government
• Experience of working the Policing sector
• Experience of working in CT Policing
• Experience in Stakeholder(s) interaction/meetings at all levels
• Experience in Third party management and interaction
• Experience of working in a National ICT Support Centre
• Understanding of ITIL Framework and Processes
• Understanding of the movement and Destruction of Secure Assets
• Practical experience designing service-based architectures
• Experience of Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment
• Recent training or certification in public cloud technologies
• Understanding of Technical Debt and approaches for its management
Experience – Preferred
• Experience of working in projects for Police Forces
• Experience of working with complex technologies in high security environments.
