Our client is a small family run business, working with a small, dedicated team of radio system experts with 25 years of experience, achieving high standards within the industry, operating all over the UK and international, supporting large sporting events.

Providing customer support (24 hours a day, 365 days of the year).
Our client is looking for a Radio Technician (Engineer) to join their growing team, to work permanently from our UK office in Basingstoke.
This person must be like minded and looking not only to invest themselves in their role, but also the in buisness.
It’s important you are passionate and excited by the prospect of working with radios and other closely related technologies.
Role & Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this role will vary from day to day.
This is not a 9-5, clock in / clock out type of job, we require a 'get it done and get it done right' attitude.
Key Responsibilities
Attend customer sites to carry out site surveys, ascertaining what equipment fits with their requirements.
Running the communications on sporting events, install repeaters or other advanced radio systems.
Confirm quantities and customer requirements, providing full and detailed reports of equipment and tools required to carry out the installation.
Servicing and repairs of radio equipment both on an off-site. Technical support for the team and our customers.
To plan distributed antenna systems (DAS) and deploy systems for UHF/VHF two-way digital mobile .
Complete RAMS when required.
Ensure all installations are completed on time and to a high standard.
Reprogram radios at customer sites as required, liaising with customers as and when required to help diagnoses any problems.
Complete all relevant paperwork in the required time, e.g., job sheets.
Ensure the van is kept clean and tidy, remembering that you are representing the company whilst out in the van.
Report and damages or defects to the Logistics Manager.
Manage time to achieve the key performance indicators for the role and prioritise workload.
Appraise own performance and contribute towards own development of the knowledge & skills required to achieve results.
Help and support in other departments within the building when required.
Ability to work in a swift, efficient manner even while under pressure.
Always maintain responsibility for own Health and Safety, adhering to all company policies
Report all accidents, injuries and near misses to the office immediately.
Carry out a thorough site test with the customer before leaving site after installations, obtaining a signature to confirm the original spec has been fulfilled (including taking photos pre and post installation)
Ensure you have all equipment and tools required for your days’ work, attending site on time, liaising with purchasing to order stock accordingly when needed.
Contact the customer the day prior to install when you are lead engineer on a job. If you are working alone, you are the lead engineer.
Maintain own knowledge and skills relevant to your role and the industry by attending suitable courses relevant to your role.
Put customers and people at the heart of all activity ensuring the customers are always treated as people and people as customers.
Represent the company by own appearance and behaviours in line with the delivery of world class standards.
In periods of downtime there may be remedial work to carry out, such as:
• Servicing and repairing our hire radio equipment and accessories. helping to assist with packing shipments or orders.
• General office/warehouse remedial work.
Skills & Experience:
• Organised with an exceptional eye for detail.
• Radio installation in all different types of buildings and vehicles
• Report writing, method statements and risk assessments.
• Knowledge of Microsoft office packages
• Excellent communication skills
• Confident working from heights
• Full driving licence, and full access to a vehicle
• Working within the RF spectrum (system planning, use of test equipment, spectrum analyser) (desirable)
• Customer care knowledge
• Maintain professional working relationships with colleagues.
Note that we are an international company operating in Africa and the Seychelles alongside the UK.
Although likely to be rare, there may be requirement to travel so please make sure you have a valid Passport and are willing to travel and comfortable with that.
Qualifications
• Trained in radio communication.
• Trained and experience in VHF/UHF commercial radio (Motorola / Hytera DMR and Analogue)
• Understanding of IP site connect / capacity plus systems will be valuable.
• An understanding of HF communication will be valuable.
