Data Centre Ops Tech / Field Engineer / Infrastructure Engineer (Cabling) (242jc) – Bracknell - £25 to 45k depending on skills.
My client is a leading Data Centre services business specialising in IT Relocation, New Hardware Installations, Data Centre Structured Cabling and Asset Disposal.

They are currently seeking Data Centre Infrastructure Engineers (Cabling) to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity, in a fast-paced environment that is growing exponentially.
***They are looking for both junior and senior candidates for these roles***
This is a full-time position (Mon to Fri) based out of their Bracknell office, with regular travel to client locations.
Main duties include, but are not limited to:
• Racking and stacking of servers, network devices and storage
• Patching to an extremely high standard
• Auditing hardware and cabling of existing data centre environments
• Pulling and terminating Cat5e/6/6a and various fibre structured cabling systems
• Contributing to the design of data centre deployments as well as other client requirements
• Being a key part of data centre migration projects

Experience Required:
• (Only for cable engineer role) Min. 2 years + in structured cabling and patching
• Min. 2 years + in data centre environments, ideally as part of a DC Ops outfit
• Must hold an appropriate cabling certification - CNCI, BTEC, City & Guilds or BICSI
• Complete understanding of industry best practices in cabling installations and testing procedures for both copper and fibre solutions
• Proficient in the use and understanding of copper and fibre testing equipment, including OTDR, fluke, network analyser and VFL
• Excellent understanding of CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, OM3/OM4 and OS2 cabling systems
• Demonstrable technical knowledge and installation of copper, fibre, and general data centre installations.
• Installation, termination and testing of both copper and fibre network cables
• Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills using loss calculation equipment, VFL etc
• Good understanding of MS Excel (beneficial)
• Good understanding of data centre power systems (beneficial)
• Existing client relations within the data centre industry (beneficial)
• SC cleared (extremely beneficial)
• Data centre migrations (extremely beneficial)
In return they are offering a competitive package, starting at £25k with little or no experience, to £45k for experienced cabler’s, as well as regular optional overtime, a clear progression plan for everyone, 25 days holiday, company pension with up to 5% company contribution, and annual salary reviews, and ad-hoc “rest-days”.
