Radio Systems Engineer (101dm) – Felixstowe - £42k DOE

We have a position available for an experienced Radio Systems Engineer to join a great team in Felixstowe.
Ideal candidates would be those who have served some time in the MOD, and reached the rank of Sgt or even Cpl due to the trade training they would have completed.

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.

They will be reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Systems Engineer will be part of a team consisting of System & Service Engineers.

The team is responsible for:
• Design of bespoke technical solutions in line with Customer requirements
• Design of wireless telecommunications systems
• Project installation delivery on complex bespoke radio systems and DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems) and associated infrastructure, to agreed timescales and standards
• Network planning, prediction and optimisation of LAN/WAN infrastructure
• Systems and infrastructure remedial maintenance - responding to customer reported incidents which are escalated from the service team, within an SLA framework, ensuring all incidents are resolved or services restored within the SLA
• Preventative Maintenance – completing system and infrastructure service visits to a planned schedule including conformance to specifications

The technology scope is predominantly Radio and IP based but also split between fibre and cellular based equipment with additional service scope including; Unified Comms, Network, Wireless and M2M related technologies that; form part of shared platforms or dedicated solutions for customers. This role will work closely with other Operational functions to ensure that multi-technology solutions are delivered and supported seamlessly for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
• Work as part of a team covering all Engineering activities and specifically Project Delivery
• Be part of an on-call out of hours rota
• Be prepared to cover projects nationwide which will involve working away from home at times
• To deliver client projects as requested. This includes pre and post sales technical support
• Ensure that the overall performance of Project delivery meets industry standards in terms of quality, customer satisfaction, timeliness and being on time and on budget
• Understand that at times the delivery of Engineering projects are required out of hours, so there is the need to be flexible in the working hours required to ensure efficient delivery
• Maintaining customer satisfaction as per set targets and objectives
• Ensuring HR procedures are followed
• Ensure all functions within Service operate in compliance with all SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality) & legal

Key Qualifications and Experience.
• Excellent solid technical background with strong theoretical and practical experience
• Experienced Radio and Infrastructure engineer, having sound knowledge of Unified Comms and/or Network and I.T. Strong industry knowledge
• Strong experience in working on DMR Tier 2 and Tier 3 radio systems, particularly infrastructure focussed, but excellent knowledge of end user devices with common main manufacturer equipment from: Hytera / TAIT / Simoco / Motorola / Sepura / Kenwood / Axell Wireless (PBE)
• Experience in programming radio templates – Hytera / TAIT / Simoco / Motorola / Sepura / Kenwood
• In depth understanding of designing and commissioning Axell / PBE equipment used in a range of RF technologies including TETRA, DMR, Analogue, VHF and Cellular. Deployed over off air repeaters and RF over fibre systems.
• Experience of designing DAS designs in a variety of environments such as Airports, Tunnels, Train stations and Shopping centres. Including Calculating link budget’s, passive equipment lists and in depth DAS drawings.
• Preventative maintenance and fault activities on DAS systems such as PIM testing, distance to fault measurements and replacing / testing all types of RF
• cable and connectors e.g. Cellflex, Radiflex 7/16 and n type connectors
