An outstanding job opportunity has arisen for a committed Senior Occupational Therapist to join an exceptional School service based in the Somerset area. As a Senior Occupational Therapist you will be working with one of UK's leading health care providers.

This specialist school is for young people, who have autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). They are able to support young people with a wide range of needs, from those who are broadly average in their ability to others who have more severe learning difficulties.

As a Senior Occupational Therapist your day to day duties include:

·         Supporting and developing pupils’ ability to participate in functional skills of daily living and accessing the world around them

·         Encouraging pupils to develop self-help skills and promote their independence and wellbeing

·         Helping to recognise and manage sensory processing difficulties and supporting pupils to regulate their sensory systems to enable them to access education

·         Making recommendations and adaptations to the pupil’s space to support teaching staff to create a positive learning environment.

 

An ideal Senior Occupational Therapist must have these skills as they are beneficial for this position:

·         A recognised Occupational Therapy degree/qualification

·         Health Care Professionals Council Licence to practice

·         Membership with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists

·         2-3 years proven experience working as an Occupational Therapist (ideally with children or within education)

·         Minimum qualifications in Sensory Integration of Module 1 and 2. The school will support the candidate to attain module 3.

·         Knowledge of special educational needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder

·         Experience in writing annual review reports to contribute towards Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP)

·         A confident, caring and pro-active attitude.

 

The successful Senior Occupational Therapist will receive an annual excellent salary of £28,050 - £35,000 depending on experience. This exciting position is for 24 hours a week Term Time Only. In return for your hard work and commitment you will receive the following generous benefits:
