A fantastic opportunity for Service Leavers/veterans seeking a career in Software Engineering within a fast paced and growing IT consultancy company. Our client is very open to Cleared (DV or Green Badge ideally/OR SC) ex-military candidates, to come in as Trainees, who have some coding experience and/or background in Network Security/Engineering, Cyber, IT/Computing related Degree. Our client’s goal is to create amazing solutions to complex problems. This generally means that they get involved in areas that their clients find particularly complex or innovative.
Their recent project for a large client involved creating a bespoke test harness and framework for a solution suite comprising of multiple bespoke products developed by third-party suppliers. Their relationship with the client gave them the freedom to look at algorithm-based solutions as well as AI integrations that could improve the overall delivery.

Following a period of growth and expansion, our client are in the exciting early stages of developing their consultancy and data services business areas and are looking for candidates who are not only capable of working within their customer embedded teams, but who also have a desire to challenge themselves, learning new technologies and skills and progress within the company as opportunities arise.

About the role:
This role is predominantly home based with occasional travel to their Gloucester office as required.
Additionally, there may be a requirement to travel to customer sites on an infrequent basis. As a developer you will be working within a small team of specialists providing expertise to a large client developing predominantly opensource technologies to address bespoke requirements.
A part of this role will include publishing improvements back to opensource projects so a familiarity with working on opensource projects would be beneficial.

Due to the nature of small team working, you will be expected to assist in areas outside of code development and will be actively engaged as a team member providing technical expertise in design workshops, highlighting improvements, and identifying opportunities for enhancements.

You will be required to have technical knowledge of at least one core programming language with the ability to pick up others quickly & comfortably work with others (training will be provided). Knowledge of a range of DevOps related technologies and a good working understanding of testing and architecture practices as a whole will also be beneficial (however, training will be provided for ex-military candidates).
