Our client specialises in engine service, overhaul and test, alongside bespoke power generation providing high quality products throughout the world. Our engineering design, fabrication, manufacture and finishing teams combine to serve a wide range of clients including the MOD, NHS, and National Grid, providing power generation solutions from warships to care homes.

Our client is looking for an Electrical Design Engineer
To working as part of the Engineering Department to develop the electrical design for Marine and Industrial diesel generating set control systems and associated equipment. This includes taking on board full design and manufacture contracts ranging from basic key start/push button control panels through to multi bay switch boards and corresponding panels.
Contracts include industrial installations, purpose built acoustic/thermal enclosures, plant room applications, commercial marine, super yacht, and MOD grey ship.
Role & Responsibilities
• Work from sales specifications to produce detailed design.
• Work closely with consultants/M&E contractors to ascertain full design constraints/requirements.
• Produce design schematics for customer approval and production build. (AutoCAD)
• Source relevant components and equipment to produce Bill of Materials using SAGE software. (In conjunction with the Purchasing Department)
• Work closely with the production to ensure correct interface of design.
• Produce detailed test specifications for customer witness test.
• Assisting Test Engineers as required.
• Produce Technical Documentation as part of the O&M Manuals for the equipment.
• Some UK and Overseas travel.
Skill Set
• Proven & relevant design experience, background & skillset.
• Strong electrical knowledge and understanding
• Attention to detail & clear communication skills.
• Good work ethic and ability to work well with others.
The Electrical Design Engineer reports directly to the Operations Director and may be requested to complete tasks as deemed relevant, not mentioned within the above bullet points.

Details & benefits
37.5-hour week: Hours 7:30am & 4pm Monday to Thursday & 7:30 & 1pm Friday
Salary negotiable depending on suitability/experience/qualifications.
