Our client specialises in the supply & installation of IT infrastructure & electrical solutions to local & UK businesses. They offer a complete design, installation, project management and support services. They also supply & install Electrical Vehicle Charging stations. Experience working in MOD and Government environments and using their highly skilled specialists, they bring the ability to supply installation services to the highest of standards.
Following a period of growth and expansion, the IT consultancy is looking for a driven, and motivated Business Development Manager (BDM) with a deep understanding of working with MoD and government.
This key role requires a strategic new business-winning BDM to act as their defence sector lead working with a strategic aim, you will enjoy a strong degree of autonomy in how you deliver this. Whilst their head office is based in Gloucester, this role allows a highly flexible working routine, being client and partner focused.
The successful candidate will come with a strong Defence network of contacts (in the MOD & key contractors in the military & security sectors) & ability to Consultative sell (ie. selling ‘teams of people’ ie. DevOps & Software Engineering, designing & building infrastructure for customers)
About the role:
You’ll be key to defining and wining key business opportunities which lead to order generation and revenue, whilst developing the brand and reputation of our client. You’ll know the inner-workings of Forces HQs and all areas of the defence sector and know who to explore areas of capability development, enabling sustainment of a market-leading position.
You will be expected to manage your own demands and priorities. You will have specialised knowledge and can take on Business Development (new business) and Account Management (existing customers) within MoD and government sectors (Service Leavers will gain some commercial training)
Responsibilities:
• Develop, manage, and maintain capture plans in support of opportunities and campaigns with regular reporting and dissemination of associated information
• Support the creation of marketing materials in support of events, campaigns, and capabilities.
• Developing and managing partner relationships
• Experience working with defence sector clients and institutions.
• Proven success in the development and presentation of proposals (prior sales ideally), strategic services solutions and success in selling complex technical solutions to both enterprises and government agencies
• Experience in building long-term customer relationships and in leveraging public-private partnership programs
• Be capable of confidently briefing to senior stakeholders across industry, government and the defence sector
• Have experience in developing, managing and leading strategic campaigns (or key sales) within the defence sector
• Innovative thinker and be able to anticipate and overcome problems in a complex business development environment.
• Self-starter and highly motivated and able to set short and long-term planning goals in line with campaign and business needs
• Identify, create and validate opportunities for future sales and growth.
• Undertake accurate and well-informed market and competitor analysis.
• Have a good understanding of developing relationship and capture in defence
• Worked on high value and long-term service agreements
