My client, who is a specialist engineering provider with a client base across the UK and Ireland, who we have placed several individuals in the past are now seeking to recruit an additional engineer to join their existing team due to massive increase in their business.

As a highly organised and technically competent individual, you will play a key role in providing the highest level of customer satisfaction post-sale, thereby developing lasting customer relationships, and maximising the contribution and profitability of the Service and Operations Department.
Within the scope of my client’s industrial Fire Prevention and Measuring Technology portfolio, the Service Engineer role performs regular and ad hoc service, fault-finding, repair, and commissioning activities, tasked by the Service Coordinator. Participate in on-call rotas to ensure we can support customers outside of office hours.
In addition, the Service Engineer assists with installation projects as required, and the manufacture and testing of systems as required by the Inventory & Project Controller.
Main duties
Primary responsibilities underpin the group Vision 2030 and will include, but not be limited to:
• Deliver exemplary customer service to all customers.
• Ensure daily work contributes to the departmental goal of high-quality output.
• Ensure established safety guidelines; promote a safe workplace.
• Complete and maintain accurate and high-quality records and work reports.
• Ensure quality standards and that work is effective, correct, and thorough.
• Plan and prepare for successful service activities (including reviewing previous work reports, parts anticipated, customer/site requirements and logistics).
• Be responsible for completion of Risk Assessment & Method Statements.
• Perform regular and ad hoc service, fault-finding, repair, testing, commissioning and training activities.
• Submit accurate and timely records of travel time, working time, expenses, parts and materials used.
• Assist with installation and manufacturing tasks and projects.
• Build strong relationships and liaise with the group Service organisation to ensure a regular information exchange and that you can rely on ad-hoc support as needed.
• Solve problems and conflicts in your area of responsibility.
• Promote proposals for the improvement of processes and products (CIP, Kaizen, LEAN)
• Ensure value and optimise material and tool equipment.
Secondary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Actively contribute to the smooth running of the company.
• Undertake such other duties, training and hours of work as may be reasonably required and consistent with the general level of responsibility for this role.
As this job involves significant travel and you will be expected to work away from home Mon – Fri, you will need to have a full, clean driving licence.
To be eligible for this role you will need the following skills, knowledge and experience:
• Strong educational base, including English and Maths to GCSE level (minimum)
• Computer literacy and numeracy literacy qualifications including experience of Office 365.
• Formal electrical qualification, to include test and inspection (IET preferred)
• Relevant Level 3 technical qualification
• Mechanical knowledge (pipework, pumps)
• Must be able to work at heights.
• Strong electrical engineering background
• Ability to work with single phase and 3 phase electrical systems.
• Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills with the ability to read engineering drawings.
• Strong team working ethic and task/project management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A creative problem-solver, able to think laterally as well as being self-motivated and driven; able to act on own initiative
• Excellent time management and geographical planning skills
The ideal candidate would probably come from any service or similar background, who has a strong background in electromechanical systems and is looking for a new career in a fast growing and dynamic background who is seeking to start a new career, anyone with 18th Edition would be at a distinct advantage.
