Main Purpose of Job
Our client’s Digital Services customer have delivered two ‘on-premise’ multi-tenant cloud hosting platforms to support the digital strategy. There are several live applications on the platform, a number currently being on-boarded with more being added to the backlog.
Customer Onboarding includes the modernisation and migration of existing applications from the wider group & MOD distributed locations to the new target hosting platform. The service also provides and hosts services that replace / re-platform existing applications along with new services.
The cloud hosting services are not static, new services are being introduced to meet demand and requirements for cloud tenants and application providers as required.
The successful candidate will work within the customer onboarding team of the Service Delivery Team and will be responsible for the planning and co-ordination of activities to ensure that tenants and applications are effectively migrated onto or re-platformed to the cloud hosting service.
The team is the conduit between application providers and the hosting platform and technical teams running the cloud services. The onboarding team will carry out discovery activity to understand the current state applications deployed by tenants, understand the network and infrastructure landscape, and assess suitability to move to the target hosting platform. Once this is determined the team will then work with the application service providers and the cloud hosting technical teams to migrate or re-platform the applications over in a controlled and staged manner.
Key responsibilities will include supporting tenant transition & service improvement - Able to conduct discovery activities with new prospective tenants and coordinate migration / transition activity with them and the hosting service delivery team, including reporting and managing aspects of the roadmap and alignment of dependencies with tenants.
Experience / Skills Required
• Cloud migration and transition activities.
• Digital project delivery into the MOD and/or central UK Government clients.
• Working in defence with exposure to MOD accreditation processes and standards
• Exposure to highly secure / operational / mission critical environment
• Cloud hosting platforms and application hosting requirements to be able to assess the suitability and feasibility of moving to or re-platforming candidate workloads.
• Appreciation of cloud and virtualisation technologies, ideally VMWare.
• Appreciation operating system and core features including Linux, Windows OS, active directory and windows centric core services.
• Experience in executing process development and change in an evolving service against a defined maturity model
• Appreciation of project management method
• Ability to work directly with customers, understanding the stakeholder landscape and influencing where necessary to manage dependency delivery.
• Must be able to show initiative with minimal direction in a fast paced and changing environment
• Understand and deliver on assigned project objectives.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to exercise good judgement to find solutions - respecting process but focussing on outcomes.
• Proficient with MS Office 365 applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and agile task management tooling (JIRA) or their equivalent.
• Portsmouth 20%, Remote 80% - role caters for flexible working.
