This client is a specialist service company delivering technical solutions for complex projects to the MoD Navy and are currently seeking to recruit a Hose Surveyor/Technician to join their expanding team due to expanding contract.
DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.
You will be reporting to the Ops Manager and your role will be to carry out onsite surveys of flexible hose assemblies on MOD vessels based either in Plymouth or Portsmouth, and as well as occasionally you may be required to go overseas & offshore to carry out site flexible hose inspections.
Therefore, your role will be as follows:
• Visually inspect customer’s hoses and fittings whilst in situ in line with the company’s inspection procedures.
• Identify hose types, fittings, and condition, in line with procedures.
• Tag and register hoses.
• Completion of hose registers & reports accurately and on a timely basis.
• Recommending possible solutions to problems identified with the customer hoses, applications or operating procedures and carry out remedial actions when appropriate.
• Identification and use of appropriate fittings for specified hoses, as per customer specification.
• Hose assembly and pressure testing
• Above tasks maybe required at client locations on client equipment using client’s certification systems.
• Ensuring that work areas are maintained clean and hazard free at all times.
• Uphold the standards of the company and work in line with the company systems and objectives at all times.
In this role you will also need to:

• Ensure that all Quality and operational procedures as identified in company QA Manuals are adhered to at all times.
• Maintain and embrace ownership of departmental policies and procedures.
To be eligible for this role you will need to have the following skills:
• Proven work experience in the inspection of flexible hoses
• Report writing skills.
• Ability to use Microsoft office programs to generate reports & registers.
• Experience in offshore service industry or similar environment.
• Previous surface fleet vessel familiarity.
The ideal candidate would probably be ex RN coming from a mechanical engineering background who lives between Plymouth and Portsmouth areas due to the fact that you will have to work from both RN Dockyards on a regular basis. In this role you will be essentially responsible for hose assembly and maintenance of the hoses only and not any associated equipment.
In return they are offering a good retainer of between £21 to 24k, and when working on site you will paid a daily amount of just over £80 per 8 hour shift as well as a generous travel allowance and therefore you could be earning in excess of £38k per year depending on the number of days worked, as well as further possible enhanced payments when you have to work offshore.
