An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within our clients UK Manufacturing Engineering team located within the Connected Intelligence, Secure Communications in Portsmouth

Job Summary
We are looking for Project Managers with proven project management experience, excellent leadership, and communication skills to join Companies Defence & Space, Connected Intelligence, Secure Communications Project Management Team.

The successful applicants will lead the delivery phase of complex military satellite communications projects and provide project initiation and planning expertise in the associated business winning campaigns.

Companies’ standards adopt the lifecycle guidance recommended by the Project Management Institute (PMI).

You will be responsible for Project Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring and Controlling and Closing of projects delivering complex secure communications infrastructure and services.

You will be responsible for managing projects in accordance with the project lifecycle standards & accountable for the quality, cost and schedule performance of the project.

Head of Project Delivery

External Relationships
Regular contact with suppliers & customers for meetings and presentations

• Skills/Experience Required
• Essential –
• A degree or equivalent in project management, business management, or a relevant engineering discipline.
• A good understanding of the PMI Project Management body of knowledge.
• A basic understanding of AGILE project management.
• At least five years’ experience of approving initial briefs/baselines, delivering projects and supporting bids in an engineering environment. Ideally, this will be the communications, aerospace, space, or defence industries.

Working Pattern
Monday to Friday days
Ad hoc additional working hours when supporting a bid

Travel
Regular travel to other UK sites with the possibility of infrequent international travel.

Extension
Possible extension after initial contract duration

Base of Work
Following a familiarisation period on site this role will involve hybrid working 3 days per week on-site and two days per week working from home.
Candidates must be able to work on site full time when required – free parking is provided.

Two stage interview

Clearance
The successful candidate will be required to apply for and receive a basic disclosure certificate prior to commencement of the contract.

The cost of the application is only recoverable from the client once the contractor has started and that recovery of costs is via the expense process.

The successful candidate will be required to pass BPSS security clearance before confirmation of contract offer.

The successful candidate will also be required to have a current SC clearance that is confirmed before start date and successfully transferred on commencement of the contract.

A CEST assessment has been carried out for this role and it has been deemed Inside Scope of IR35
