Cloud Infrastructure Engineer SC/DV (280lw) - Staffordshire – £60,000.00 + benefits/package
Our client, a rapidly growing SME who specialise in providing fully managed secure ICT services to the UK's Defence and Security sectors, are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to take responsibility for designing, deploying, and managing scalable, secure, and efficient Azure cloud infrastructure solutions. This can also be a Contract role.

Responsibilities will include
Cloud Architecture - Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure that is scalable, secure, and aligned with the Azure Well-Architected Framework. Integrate IaaS and PaaS services to meet full customer requirements and deliver robust cloud solutions.
Infrastructure Management - Oversee and manage complex Azure cloud deployments, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and cost-efficiency. Continuously monitor and optimize cloud resource utilisation.
Implement a continuous improvement approach in cloud system development, working with internal teams to ensure changes are delivered with minimal risk to downtime & actively seek and implement opportunities to enhance system performance and stability.
Automation - Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline cloud operations and manage resources efficiently. Identify and recommend new automation opportunities to improve cost management, service performance, and security response.
Security - Design and deploy Azure cloud systems with a security-first mindset, adhering to the highest security standards. Implement and enforce robust security policies and best practices for all cloud environments.
Monitoring - Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, identify issues, and troubleshoot to ensure continuous uptime and resource optimisation. Proactively address potential performance bottlenecks and ensure cost-effective resource management.
Create and maintain detailed documentation for cloud architecture, policies, and processes.
Provide technical support and serve as the final point of escalation for all cloud-related issues, ensuring resolution above third-line support.
Communicate effectively with third-party contractors, translating technical details when required.
Develop new policies aligned with business needs and cloud technologies, ensuring they meet operational requirements & maintain a strong understanding of business requirements and translate them into technical policies.
Lead and advocate for cloud technology advancements within the organization, staying at the forefront of Azure developments & stay up to date with the rapidly evolving Azure technology stack, identifying new tools and methods to improve cloud services.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). It would be preferential to have Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Security Engineer)
Proven experience designing, deploying, and managing Azure cloud environments.
Strong background in cloud architecture, infrastructure management, and security best practices.
Experience with automation, scripting, and CI/CD tools (e.g., Terraform, PowerShell, Azure DevOps).
Knowledge of Azure services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
Strong scripting experience for automation (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
Experience implementing security protocols, SIEM, and SOAR solutions.
Familiarity with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, etc.).
