A great position has arisen for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join two highly respectable hospitals as a Lead Nurse, located in Surrey.
The medium and low secure Hospitals are a locked rehabilitation service that provides treatment and rehabilitation to male patients with mental illness, personality disorder and mild learning disabilities within a safe and comfortable environment.

As a Lead Nurse you will be expected to provide nursing leadership of the nursing teams across two sites. You will be taking the lead on; quality patient safety and the service user experience and promote clinical innovation.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
· Professional development of nursing staff.
· Line management of Ward Managers.
· Taking part in the senior person on call rota out of hours.
· Acting up in the absence of the Clinical Services Manager.
- To create, develop and maintain professional supportive relationships with all members of staff.
- To empower nurses to take on a wider range of clinical roles and responsibilities.
- To ensure within clinical practice that service users’ physical wellbeing, alongside their psychological and mental wellbeing are addressed.
- To take an active role on all aspects of infection prevention and control.
- To provide effective means of communication with staff and service users and maximise opportunities for their involvement in service development and delivery.
- To promote research and encourage and involve staff and service users in the development of new ideas and methods for improving the service.
- To ensure that new referral assessments and reports are completed in a timely manner and are of a high quality and to oversee the process through allocation to specific MDT’s.
- To identify any cost pressures with the nursing budget responsibilities and take steps to minimise/eradicate their impact.
- To closely manage staff allocation, daily numbers on the ward and additional use of agency staff to ensure budget is tightly controlled and effectively managed.
- To provide statistics and reports as required by the Hospital Director / Clinical Services Manager.
To be considered for this role you must be a qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse with a current NMC Pin.
