Tracked Vehicle Technician (205jc) – Warminster - £38k + Benefits
My client is a respected and established quality engineering, maintenance and remanufacturing company to the military for over 20 years are now seeking to recruit an additional Workshop Technician to join their established team.
DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.
You will be reporting to the Workshop Manager, and you will be part of a team responsible for in depth repair, of the CR2 APU and Suspension Units, encompassing the following:
• CR2 APU component dismantling and Re-assembly
• Painting & Testing.
• Delivery preparation.
• CR2 Suspension Unit strip and survey.
Therefore, your key tasks will include:
• Carry out repair and service of unserviceable CR2 APU’s.
• Carry out Strip & Survey of CR2 Gen 1 & Gen 2 Suspension Units. Primary focus will be repair of CR APU.
• Maintain equipment including cleaning and painting prior to delivery.
• Maintain safe working conditions in line with company HSE policy.
• Assist in engineering design of bespoke repair/test procedures and product improvements.
• Act as nominated First Aider – training will be provided.
• Any other tasks as directed by line management.
To be eligible for this role you will be:
• Suitably Qualified & Experienced Person (SQEP) in the automotive field – ex REME Class 1 Cpl/Sgt with A Vehicle background preferably.
• Experience on Challenger 2 (CR2) and AS90.
• Forklift operations (training can be provided).
• Operating knowledge of Word & Excel.
• Clean Driving License.
This role will be primarily based in Warminster, but as business expands you may be asked to work outside the UK for periods not exceeding 3 months.
The ideal candidate would be someone who has hands on experience of Challenger main battle tank, but also someone who can possibly move up to a workshop manager post within 12 to 18 months as they are seeking succession planning to impending retirement of one of the senior team. This is a work hard, play hard operation with everyone being ex-military on the shop floor.
In return they are offering a good starting salary of £38k, and you will be working Monday – Thursday 0800 to 1600 hrs and Friday 0800 to 1400hrs, with 30 days leave + Public Holidays, company pension and equipment and uniforms provided.
