TSCM Engineer (048jc) – Hybrid – up to £50k + Company Electric Vehicle + Benefits.
This company is one of the world’s leading counter surveillance companies, helping Governments, Corporations and individuals to safeguard their private information from hostile surveillance, threat and eavesdropping. They have recently been acquired by a FTSE 250 company, and they are now part of the UK’s leading facilities management company with a truly global reach and with a significant investment plan they are looking to increase significantly in the next few years.

They are seeking to recruit an engineer to join their Technical Surveillance Counter Measures (TSCM) team. The ideal candidate will have experience in TSCM, or experience working in the Surveillance/Security environments and have technical skills which will allow them to quickly develop in this unique and exciting field.
You will be reporting to the Head of Technical Services, and your main objectives will include:
• To conduct Technical Surveillance Counter Measures surveys, deployed worldwide, as part of a team.
• To assess and report on espionage threats, risks and vulnerabilities.
• To provide support to TSCM training courses.
Your specific duties will include:
• Deploy operationally in a range of TSCM environments both in the UK and overseas.
• Ensure all follow up investigations to TSCM surveys are conducted in accordance with current legislation, company SOPs and continuity of evidence is maintained.
• Produce post-deployment reports to a high standard and to timescales.
• Deliver external training on TSCM methodologies and capabilities.
• Undertake regular training to ensure that skills and procedures match the current threat assessments.
• Responsibility for the maintenance, and deployment of operational technical equipment.
• Research and development into new threats and countermeasures equipment.
To be eligible for this role you will need the following qualifications & experience
• Qualification(s) in electrical/electronic Engineering or telecommunications or significant experience working in a relevant environment. (Essential)
• Experience of delivering TSCM operations using current techniques and equipment.
• Prior UK Government structured training, e.g., at UKNACE.
• Training, qualifications or experience in computer networking and ICT systems.
• Training and experience in military or police physical search techniques.
• Confident communicating with a range of colleague and clients of various grades and disciplines.
As well as more broadly experience of
• A broad knowledge of RF technologies.
• General knowledge of INFOSEC techniques.
• An interest in staying abreast of new technologies.
• Good practical skills.
• Experience of working in a fast moving, rapidly changing environment.
In return they are offering ongoing training and development as well as a good starting salary. They are ideally looking for individuals who live close to their office in Woking but are willing to look at individuals who live within a reasonable commute of London as that is where most of their work is carried out.
For someone who has a solid understanding of RF Technology, they are looking at the starting salary of £35k and a full training package, with some ECM knowledge, i.e. completed a UKNACE course up to £40 - 45k and development, and with current TSCM experience up to £ 50k and the ability to quickly move into a team leader role.
A typical month for an engineer will consist of 172 hrs per month, with over time paid on top of that, and your hours will include your travel time travel time to and from each.
Therefore, your typical month (30 days) the 172 hrs would be made up from.
8 x days off. 2 x long weekends Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon. (Alternative weekends off)
8 x evening deployments. 6pm - 2am. 10 hrs per deployment inc. travel time (80 hrs)
4 x days working in office in Woking. 9am - 5pm (32 hrs)
2 x day deployments. 10am - 6pm. 10 hrs inc. Travel time (20 hrs)
2 x weekend deployments. 10 hrs each. (20 hrs)
20 hrs working from home. Online meetings. Reports. Research. General Admin. (20 hrs)
